Cecilia Paredes was born in Lima, Peru, and works between Lima and Philadelphia. Her studies of Fine Arts were at the Catholic University of Lima and Cambridge Arts in the UK. Paredes represented Costa Rica, she lived there for many years, at the 51st Venice Biennial in 2005 and she was the recipient of the Bellagio Residency from the Rockefeller Foundation in 1998.
